Death Camas vs. Blue Camas

DEATH CAMAS (Toxicoscordion spp.) — bulbs deadly; grows in the same meadows as blue camas.

The tell: Blue camas: BLUE-PURPLE, larger star flowers. Death camas: smaller WHITE/cream flowers. Bulbs look alike — so dig ONLY while the plant is in bloom and the color is unmistakable.

Rule: Not clearly blue in flower? Don't dig.
